Today I Watched a Gorilla Poop
Her words, not mine.
It was the last thing she said to me, the gorilla poop thing.
Today was day 2 at at the zoo and today she told me the most interesting thing as the last thing. Today’s theme was offense and defense between animals she told us at the dinner table tonight.
Also, she touched a bear claw, a lynx and a snake.
Also, the noodles for lunch were much better than the soggy bread yesterday because that was “so disgusting”!
All this was good.
Not so good - the weather here. It was a balmy 29 degrees this morning, which is not a problem for us but it was for the child. To her, it’s spring and the whole lion/lamb thing was in March - now it’s after easter and it should be warmer - but it’s not.
She would not would not wear anything warm. I tried to stuff an extra hoodie in the bag. “It’s to heavy”, she cried. I managed to get her some mittens and that seemed to be good compromise for her. Not me - I would have bundled her up more tightly.
She eventually went out the door in a t-shirt, hoodie over top and soft and fluffy spring jacket. We must have asked her if she was sure a thousand times.
“I’m fine” she kept telling us.
So… I warned her and dropped her off partially expecting a phone call an hour later saying come pick her up, but our headstrong (or exeptionally warm blooded) child spent all day at the camp and came back to me unzipped and bedraggled from a very hard day at the zoo watching monkeys poo.
Fun fact: Did you know what a Skink is? Yeah , me either.
Today I learned from a 7-year-old.
Some of the information was too much.
Until Next Time,
TH and Co.
