Snow and Hunger Strikes
It's Eggnog and Christmas Carol Season Here.
As it does in November in Buffalo - it snowed today. The forecast says “a coating to an inch” and so far they are right on target:
And I don’t know what happened to the child, but as soon as she realized there was snow on the ground she put 2+2 together and came up with “It’s Christmas”!!.
Well….not yet - despite what the retailers would like you to think. We have a few more weeks until we start to seriously think about the holiday as we still have to get Thanskgiving in the rear view mirror
But that didn’t stop her. Today she had to go outside and make snowballs with the 1/2 inch of snow we had and as all parents know - it takes 45 minutes to get them ready so she’ll be out there for 3 minutes:
When she came in from her winter adventure she wanted to have hot chocolate but she had a lot of sweets recently so that didn’t happen.
What did happen though is that the Dog finally ate something.
This is big news here.
Let me explain: On a normal evening, the dog goes into her crate when we go to bad and I latch the door and she’s out snoring for the rest of the night. But the other night she must have heard/smelled something outside and she whined and whined and whined and wanted let outside.
Okay, fine. If you want to be out all night - knock yourself out. Have fun. I’m going back to bed.
Well,. It seems the dog had too much of a good thing out there.. I don’t know if she found a dead animal to eat in the yard or a mouse or something but the next day, she would not eat. At first we didn’t think much of it, but then this afternoon she would still not eat.
Crap. No way we’re calling the emergency vet on the weekend, so we we just waited and googled - The big G said to make sure she has enough water so BW and I made sure she had enough to drink by pouring some water into the dog’s cheek area and as you can guess, the dog did not like this idea much at all.
BW put some chicken broth out for her and the dog was not interested at all. Uh-oh.
What was the Vet’s number again?
About an hour later BW informed me that finally, finally, finally the dog ate her dinner from 2 days ago. YAY ! No Vet.
But, let me tell you what they don’t tell you in the manual: The dog farts.
OMG YOU GUYS - The FARTS ARE BAD. REALLY BAD.
That’s the lesson of the day: If your dog doesn’t eat for a few days - call the vet and in the meantime have some air freshener at the ready
As they say : this too shall pass.
With the dog this weekend it was taken a little too literally.
Keeping the air freshner at arms reach,
TH and Co.
