It's April and I'm the Fool
A Story about the most exciting day of the month.
I should have seen this coming.
You see, she’s been obsessed with pranks for what - a year or so now?
But I guess I missed this clue, or she’s been obsessed with pranks for so long that it’s just seemed almost natural to get pranked every day now.
But this year, we were at peak April Fools excitement, folks. She didn’t want to go to bed last night and couldn’t seem to sleep. The two of us had planned to put some green or even red food coloring into her coffee in the morning.
But it was BW that won April Fools this year.
This morning, the child crawled into bed with us for a few minutes before the day started and then BW told us that there was no school today.
Both the child and I were confused and before we could both figure out what she was talking about BW burst out “April Fools!”. The child and I were the fools this year.
We went downstairs and she decided she wanted to make mom’s coffee a dark brown instead of red. I tried to tell her that this was not really a good idea because coffee is already brown buts he would have nothing of it and BW got pranked with coffee with brown food coloring.
Thankfully there’s only three of us because that’s all the pranking we can do.
At school there was a plan for a party and I had to go pickup a veggie tray to bring over to the school - which I did without a surprise or trick to be had. But when the child got home she told us that the principal announced over the loudspeakers that the party was cancelled and then….APRIL FOOLS!
She came home with some gummy bears and Play-Doh and told us she had a great time. On the first day of the month that’s a pretty good way to start April even if for a minute there she thought she didn’t have to go.
Mommy won April Fool’s Day for 2026.
There’s always next year,
TH and Co.
