Home from The Great Wolf Lodge
Minus one sword. Yes, that sword
We are home from the Great Wolf Lodge, but somehow in the business of getting out the door and trying not to forget anything - the pink sword got lost. Yes, that sword.
Thankfully due to the fact that the child is so so SO tired - she has not asked for it so we’re just going to ignore the sword ever happened. If push comes to shove, I can get a replacement on eBay. I think I’m to blame because I was the one juggling 3 suitcases and 3 swords and stuffed animal in the frigid temps loading the car in the snow, and I think the pink sword got dropped on the way to the car.
So. We shall not speak of the sword. The sword did not exist.
We have decided that 2 nights is as long as any person can exist there. The child did not know who she was because she was so tired by the end of our stay. In the morning, we got packed up and out of the room, but still needed to swim more so the logistics of what to pack in the car and what to leave out needs a chart.
When we figured out what we would need to go swimming there was the issue of the “the locker”. BW’s colleague warned her that lockers go fast there so she was right at the door when they opened at 9am for us to get a locker..
Once lockered, we had breakfast where the child was so tired she barely ate, but she did have enough energy to wave her magic wand at the tree one last time or two for it to magically light up. It's possible we lost the sword at the restaurant, but whatever - it’s gone.
We then got to the locker stuffed all our coats and crap into the locker and changed into swimsuits for about 45 minutes of swimming total.
It took us 2 hours to get packed and fed and into the pool only to swim for less than an hour, so yeah.
To be honest, it was no fun for any of us. The child was tired and walking around like a zombie and the water park was filling up with people at an exceptional rate. It got to the point where there were so many people that it stopped being fun.
So, after “one more ride”, we fought with the locker and the wet swimsuits and returned the towels and I went out and dug out the car and picked up the ladies at the front door.
24 minutes later, we were home
BW mentioned this but when you live this close to the resort/hotel it’s really nice because you don’t have to stop and pee, gas up or get lost. If there were not an international border between us we would have been home any faster.
Thankfully, we did remember the stuffed animal that is now her favorite stuffed animal - even moreso than “Don” - her we must got to bed with him at any cost toy. It’s probably just a phase, but this is serious with the new Great Wolf Lodge Bear.
Once home, I drove across town and picked up the dog from doggy daycare and swung by the grocery store and picked up the groceries and then came home where we are never leaving the house again until spring.
Oh! - When we got home, the first thing that came out of the child’s mouth was
“I’m bored”.
This is how you know we’re home again. (minus the sword)
Stay warm,
TH and Co.
