I have moved.
Not in the physical sense, but in the digital realm with this newsletter.
I am now on substack for this little newsletter of mine. In fact, I had originally started this site here but I thought I would give ghost a shot for a bit and I did well there.
Kind of.
Like anything in life there’s pros and cons to each service - just like Ford vs Chevy or Chocolate vs Vanilla. It’s not that one or the other is bad, but they just bring different flavors to the table1
As always: the reason is complicated but I moved mostly due to money. It costs me money to pay Ghost to host my newsletter. Not much, but even with a few paid subscriptions I do have2 I’m underwater on this little endeavor.
I thought writing would be like the movies: in Field of Dreams they say that “If you build it, they will come”.
I built it- but not many came. That’s not to say I am not happy I have all 27 of you here with me, but in six months I have not had one new reader. It would be nice to find a few new readers.
Substack seems to offer more of a social aspect to it where we share and read others ideas and newsletters and make new friends along the way.
Also, Substack is Free. Free for me to write this and send it to you. They take care of all the emailing and formatting and the like. I just write and hope somebody, anybody reads.
The catch is that is that if somebody actually pays for a subscription - substack gets a 10 percent cut. I guess if I had six figures in income a month I would more concerned about moving to a service that doesn’t take a cut but with under $100 made since conception so far, I will take the risk and hope the community of others helps me grow a bit faster than I had been with ghost.
So ya. New Home. Same as the Old Home.
Or, driveway if you’re going with my Ford vs Chevy analogy
thank you!
